Multicellular Horns
I purchased these horns last weekend. Nice guy, and seemed to know his Altec stuff far better than I - not hard. I bought the 2 horns, 2 adapters and 2 288-8k drivers. The horns were represented as 1005s. My plan is to use them to make A5s out of my A7s.
I've never seen a real live 1005, but to my untrained eye, these looked right. When I got home, I realized that they were 37" wide, not approximately the 30" that fits nicely on top of an 825/828 cabinet. I can't find dimensions for Altec horns anywhere.
Here are some pictures:

What did I buy? Are these 1003s? Are they suitable for use in my cabinet shop - 3,250 sf, 10' ceilings, all reflective surfaces, very poor speaker placement.
Help!

Multicellular Horns
- Mike
thinking maybe really old 1004b but not sure
wish I knew where my older lit was.
30158 looks a lot like a part number for the throat
Do they have 1.4 Altec throats?

Thanks, Alien - that's the info I was looking for. Right you are Old Guy - they appear to be 1004bs. The question becomes are they suitable for my use? The specs say that they are both 40 x 100 degree, one crossing over at 400 hz and one at 500.
With all the hard surfaces I'd think about hanging, and angle down, so the sound from the speakers does not point at a flat wall. I'd put the LF up by the ceiling and the horns underneath.
